Human Rights 4 Land
Welcome to Human Rights 4 Land
This site provides you with awareness raising and monitoring tools that connect responsible land governance to the human rights obligations of States.
This can help strengthen advocacy and legal claims, inform human rights reporting, and policy and programme development to improve tenure security and rights realization for all people with a focus on those most at risk of losing access to and control over land, property and natural resources.
The Human Rights 4 Land Navigator shows how the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGGT) are underpinned by human rights standards. It allows you to understand which human rights are at stake in specific aspects of land governance.
This can inform policy advocacy for improved protection of land rights or help prepare litigation in land, property and natural resource related cases.
The Human Rights 4 Land Monitoring Tool consists of an indicator framework and questionnaires that can be used to assess responsible land governance from a human rights perspective.
The tool assesses the alignment of policies to the VGGT and its underlying human rights commitments, efforts undertaken to effectively implement these policies and the actual results, for example, in terms of secured legitimate tenure rights as experienced by disadvantaged groups and individuals.
